Mock draft consensus is Sergio Kindle at No. 12

If the Dolphins were to actually pay attention to all the mock drafts out there — which of course they don’t — Texas linebacker Sergio Kindle would be their pick at No. 12 when the 2010 NFL Draft plays out tonight.

We perused 18 mock drafts and found Kindle was the choice on six. Runnersup were Tennessee nose tackle Dan Williams and Georgia Tech linebacker Derrick Morgan, who were on three apiece.

The other six votes were split among six players: Texas safety Earl Thomas, Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody (after trading down), Clemson running back C.J. Spiller, TCU linebacker Jerry Hughes, Michigan linebacker Brandon Graham and Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews (also after a trade).

As you know if you’ve been following this blog, we were all over Morgan early, switched to Dan Williams, then switched back to Morgan when it appeared Williams won’t be there at No. 12.

In a few hours the suspense will be over, but here’s a rundown of what we found:

ESPN has Mel Kiper Jr. picking Kindle and Todd McShay going with Morgan. Both had Williams in their previous mocks.

Draftinsiders.com goes with Kindle. They previously had Dez Bryant, who has disappeared since the acquisition of Brandon Marshall.

CBSSports.com has remained consistent, with both Pete Prisco and Clark Judge sticking with Williams.

SI.com has a split vote, with Don Banks tabbing Thomas and Peter King predicting a trade down with Philadelphia followed by Mathews at the Eagles’ No. 24 slot.

Pat Kirwan of NFL.com goes with Kindle after slotting Penn State defensive end Jared Odrick there in his previous mock.

Football’s Future has switched from Bryant to Graham, citing the need for an athletic edge rusher.

Scott Wright of Draft Countdown has done pretty much the same thing in picking Morgan.

Peter Shrager of FoxSports.com has remained consistent, sticking with Williams.

National Football Post predicts a trade with Dallas, who would then take Thomas at No. 12. Miami would take Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody at No. 27 and then get a second-rounder from the Cowboys.

NFL Draft Blitz goes from Morgan after penciling in Idaho guard Mike Iupati in its last go-round.

NFL Draft Site is the lone choice for C.J. Spiller. Do they know something about Ronnie Brown’s future that we don’t?

Movethesticks.com offers another vote for Kindle after sending Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham to Miami in its previous mock.

WalterFootball.com offers the lone vote for Hughes, another athletic edge rusher who we feel could be there later on.

And finally, Draftinsiders.com offers up a final vote for Kindle.
